sn 35614 info needed

Postby KWSIEBERT » Thu Sep 15, 2011 1:38 pm

Hey guys, just bought a 1942 Ford script jeep the other day, and was trying to figure out the block. I am pretty sure the block does not match, it appears to have a WWII block installed the casting date is 5-3 followed by 638632 w1 n1 cr n2. It does have a Willys head. I tried to make out the number stamped on the pad on the side and the only I can come up with is 60007. By the way the DOD is 3-11-42. Any info on this block would be appreciated! Also I found a matching frame number , but it was stamped on the motor mount bracket. Is this possibly right? Thanks Kevin

Hello,

Your numbers do not add up. Can you post or email to me photos of the serial number data plate, frame serial number stamping, and motor serial number? Thanks in advance!

hey tom,
I will see if i can get a better camera to get a better pic than what i am getting with my phone. I did double check everything and it appears to be as I stated. The data plates appear to be originals and don't appear ever to have been removed. Is it possible that they stamped the frame number on the motor mount bracket? I will try to get some pics to you soon! Thanks again Kevin

On a '42 GPW a serial number stamping on the motor mount bracket can be correct.

Poor reproduction ( or possible replacement ? )data plate. Most of the stamped in data is questionable at best.

Based on the frame serial number being stamped on the motor mount bracket ( photo please ) your GPW 35614 should have come from the Louisville, Ky. assembly plant.

The weight on the original plate would have been 2265. The original DoD was most likely 06 - 11 - 42.

Is that a key lock glove box door or a push button one ? ( Push button ones have a hole higher in the door than the key lock ones).
