Original Quartermaster Corps Plate on my 42 Willys MB. Unfortunately, I cant find anyone who does repo QMC plates, only the Ordnance plates. What is the difference between the Ordnance and QMC, and especially the Make and Model part ???? Or put another way, why does mine say Quartermater and QMC on the plate, while 90% of others say Ordnance, ORD or 4x4 or something....

I guess that you haven't heard of Robert at Dataplates4U :?:

This is like yours. The plates where changed from Quartermaster to Ordnance sometime between 15 to 21 December 1942, info from John Farley's book Standardised Wartime Jeep 2. Martin, I guess this is why you have seen so many of the Ordnance ones. It is nice that you still have your original plates 8) I didn't have any with my GPW, I now have a set made by Robert 8)

Hi Everyone,
I'm so green at this it isn't funny. I just bought a 1943 GPW and it has some "F" script on it but not everywhere. The date plates are originals and very clear. Should i post a pic of them? I have so many questions but i'm going to try to research the basic ones first so i don't waste anyone's time. I have the all american wonder books and manuals too. looking to find the best paint to buy (correct color for April 1943). How would i know what branch of service and where my jeep was? anyhelp would be greatful. any other reading recommended? you can email me too if that's allowed. racicotd@plattsburghpd.com

Desmond, you might want to start a new post, as more people will see it, giving as much info as possible, most of it on your data plates on the glove box. A pic of the jeep would be nice.

Leif,Prestone 45 means the jeep had antifreeze installed in 1945.Prestone was and still is a popular antifreeze for engines.Usually on jeeps the markings for Prestone are applied right where yours are.
