Ok, this is what I have found out, and I have known.
- The frame is late war, it was rebuilt durring WW 2
- The body tub is in fact an early Slat Grill Tub with no glove box, which puts it before 1942. You can see the raised "WILLYS," on the back of it in some of the pictures.
- Unfortunately, all the original plates were gone when we bought it, so we had to estimate a number. Therefore, I had to get a number to register it, partly because I do not have time to go grinding the paint off the areas to look for the numbers, because I also just do not have the room to do that. So it is a war time rebuild. As for the original tub number etc., it is there, I just have not had time to uncover it all.
I knew all of this when we bought it, so it is no suprise to me. It is still a very nice Jeep. I'm working on looking for an early frame to put underneath it, so maybe someday.
