Also noticed the rectangular brake and clutch pedals _OK if cast clutch pedal but the pressed steel ones of late 44 were both rectangular. I can't see any holes in the tub for the reflectors either on the rear face or the rear quarter. If it hasnt had plating work done, it has to be a repro tub surely.

Body tub looks repro, almost too good? I cant see the cut-out notch above the dash panel lights &wheres the slatgrill? The front seats are late MB or more likely repro, they should have the split( two piece) at the top!

The pictures really do flatter the body tub. What can't be seen, is there is quite a big dent in the rear panel. Also, the floor is a little bit rough. It has its minor dings and dents, most of the major ones were taken out. It is in no where near perfect shape. As for the notch, I'm unsure. I do know that this body is ORIGINAL because I am the second owner of this Jeep, (3rd if you count the government). The other owner told me that he and his dad picked this up after the war from the San Francisco Bay area, and all that was ever done was an engine swap, along with a few other little electrical components added, which were taken out. Other than that, this Jeep is EXACTLY how it rolled out at the end of the war.

1945willys6202 could you please post a close up picture of the instrument panel area near and including the gauges and the e-brake handle. I believe I can see the notch in your existing pictures when I zoom in but it's difficult to tell. A closer picture should make it clear and resolve any question regarding the repro or WOF tub. The reason the tub is being questioned is that all original tubs (except MB #1) had the notch. I believe your's has the notch running along the top seam of the instrument panel as well.

Also, your body number would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bruce

Also I have been waiting to put data plates on it until I can find the body tub number, so that I can maybe find a serial number to stamp on the data plates.

I keep checking back on this post hoping to see the additional information I/We are anxiously awaiting. I am even more curious because the frame number he chose 102833 is 58 less than mine 102891 Gusset #5126. I am wondering if he did find the gusset number and after doing some homework realized that what he bought and probably paid a "Pretty Penny" for is not what he was told he was buying??

In his post dated 07 October 2011 he makes the statement "Other than that, this Jeep is EXACTLY how it rolled out at the end of the war." I truly hope he finds the Gusset Number and can at least establish the Tub is a Slat Grill Tub. If it turns out this MB is not a Slat Grill then Terry O' Connor at CMA might have some explaining to do

Ok, this is what I have found out, and I have known.
- The frame is late war, it was rebuilt durring WW 2
- The body tub is in fact an early Slat Grill Tub with no glove box, which puts it before 1942. You can see the raised "WILLYS," on the back of it in some of the pictures.
- Unfortunately, all the original plates were gone when we bought it, so we had to estimate a number. Therefore, I had to get a number to register it, partly because I do not have time to go grinding the paint off the areas to look for the numbers, because I also just do not have the room to do that. So it is a war time rebuild. As for the original tub number etc., it is there, I just have not had time to uncover it all.

I knew all of this when we bought it, so it is no suprise to me. It is still a very nice Jeep. I'm working on looking for an early frame to put underneath it, so maybe someday. :D

I would really like to know all tehre is to know about this Jeep. DoD, Serial Number, Maybe where it saw action????? I know it was in the Pacfic somwhere durring the war, because it came back on a cargo ship to San Francisco at the end of the war, which is where the pervious owner's father bought it at an auction.
