Looks like faded yellow to me. Having said that though, O.D. has yellow as one of it's base colors when mixing the paint and that desert sun can bleach out colors but OD usually starts to turn browner in the sun not more yellow. David

I cleaned up my (early style) dataplate a little more:

GTB is now much clearer and shows there is no following A but the line above it lists it as an L.C. ? Does that mean limited contract, licensed contract.... ?

Maybe "low clearance"? being that it was a low silhouette vehicle.

To further confirm that the ARMY did have GTB's in service I copied some pages from my original ARMY TM 9-2800 from 1947 :

Are there any color pictures out there of GTBs in service in WW2?

Anybody know of or have fabricated the GTB engine oil dipstick tube? I have one good one but need a second and am going to fab one up if I can't get another original.

In April 2013 at the Camp Delta at Tower Park rally near Lodi, CA we will feature a USN/USMC vehicle showcase. We hope to get more than a few GTBs. Wonder how many we can line up? Anyone know what the record is at a modern event? Any condition - not planning judging beyond People's Choice but we could have a GTB-only contest to MVPA judging standards if people are interested.

One of our showcases at the 2012 event is Work Trucks so bomb trucks are encouraged to attend Friday April 20.

Jeff, is this the same one with the 138459 frame number? If so it is also a Army contract GTB. I assume the original engine cowling with data plates were lost and the Bomb truck data pate cowling was just put on as a replacement.
The early cast type spare tire mount is consistent with it's low number.

Super complete condition!

Where did this unit come from?

i bought this one and the KD 64 from that NC auction,, and then bought the LVT4A.

yes, same one, and the cowl i bought also at the auction, not correct to this berma.

, there was one more berma there, he might have mine,, i think i contacted him, he was on steelsoldiers..

Tom would know more on tis than i,, LOL,, i think there is OD green under it,, i just thought to post some of the "hard" to find items,, etc.. for those stopping in to take a look at the thread..

its all in this photolink: i think Tom Wolbolt has the numbers he stopped by a while back..

Jeff, most GTB's seem to have come from the factory OD whether they were Navy or Army contract. Factory original color has been discussed in a few other threads here recently.

I would be curious to see if you have Army numbers under your Navy letters as I had.
