recently found GPA frame

Postby TadeO » Sun Dec 18, 2011 12:33 pm

Found a GPA frame with number 5443 on it.

Does it look like an original stamping? If yes, maybe someone knows d.o.d. or other information on it?

Regards

Condition is everything. We can see bits are missing from the front horns already.

Please post a photo of the entire frame for a better assessment. David

I added few pictures. Frame looks very solid and straight, surface rust appeared because it was stored about month outside, on the rain..

Everything looks very well except few weldings, a bit cut front sections, engine to frame mounts? and rear top frame part which is missing. Your thoughts?

Regards

I think the presence of the spring shackles significantly increases the value of the frame. I think upwards of 1K in my humble opinion or pull the spring shackles and sell separately, I know there are people specifically looking for them.

Cheers,
Tony

I agree with Tony although I don't understand why the shackles have been welded to the brackets.
If you had a complete frame this clean I would say 1.5 - 2K but the front horns are very desirable since they are often rusted or missing and the rear upper section will be hard to find separately without having to buy another frame.

What happened to the rest of this GPA? If the frame was this clean then the body was likely as clean.

This GPA was sent by Lend-lease program, but I have no idea where is other parts of it.. except axles, which I also get with this frame..

Frame was stored in a clean area, maybe body still lays somewhere in a garage, but I guess that the last owner don't know anything about it. I believe that the other owners may know something about it, but they are outside our country.

I think that it isn't worth to pull the spring shackles and sell them separately, because more complete frame is more interesting and worth more to collectors (I'm not talking about money).
