hi Dave,

We finally meet again:-)
i could use a pair if you are re-making them? please advise on a price first?

Hi Keith,
I do have the inverted bell crank; thanks for your advice!

Hi EJB,
concerning springs; i checked mine; i found 9, so i guess it will be 8, the last one is very small and will probably not be counted, does it?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250997808875?ss ... 1423.l2648

Is this the real deal ? The price is shooting up really fast.
Are these winches that rare to find ?

I'm thinking that it will probably cost double the capstan to find the rest of the parts and get it working - am I right there ?
More than I paid for my jeep to start with !

I know we shouldn't really post sales but it's not like something you can buy from Ron so I hope I'll be forgiven...

I bought my winch setup one part after another.
This way it took me three years to get the winch complete.
I spent about 3000,- Euros for all the parts.
I thought that was pretty expensive.
But these things go for even more these days...

I was just made aware of a NOS winch head being sold for $1900.

Those who have them are holding one of the most desired additions to the WWII military jeep you can have. Let the market be the judge as to the worth but for sure there are just so many and there are a lot of jeep,GPA and Weasel folks who desire them. When that market demand will end???? Who knows. :?

Any of you guys posted videos using the capstan winch ?

I can't see anything on Youtube bar one video of a jeep stuck in the snow.

Love to see one working.

I only got a couple of pics while ripping out tree stumps with the winch.
But no video...

The ebay winch went for just over $1800 in the end. So that's the current market price.
I didn't go for it in the end but I admit I was tempted.

Still want to see one of these in action... photos or videos.

I have just scrapped a CJ2A... It had a capstan winch mounting plate along with the original Caution plate, and the proper crankshft pulley... These are all in excellent condition.. No other parts were on the jeep when I got it...My question is... are the MB and Cj2a plates the same ? Also, since I don't have the rest of the winch I'm considering selling these items... What is a fair value ? I can be reached at OMalleyWR@AOL.com .. or here.. Mark O
