I would put mine on my early Willys but I don't want to remove the original rivets on its frame horns. What a dilemma.

Was once faced with the same problem.... too many accessories for Barbie.... though per usual, necessity's the Mother.

Quite obviously, you NEED another Jeep.

The Wildenberg Capstan parts are post war (but will fit) http://wildenberg.vps.booming-it.nl/det ... /index/0/0

i think what Remco means is that the parts from Wildenberg are repro and the ones of eagle are NOS.

Thanks Jeepernick for the links. One of your links isn't working but here is a direct link to Wildenberg's winch parts.

I posted the widow's capstan winch on ebay today.

The item number is: 230697023398

Looks to be in good shape, hope it goes to a good home.

Have a good day!

Hi David,
Hi others,

I finally managed to make my braden winch work on my Ford jeep!
After quiet some difficulties with the frame of the jeep and also on the winch plate (which probably had been transformed for placement on a CJ-jeep), it's working !
Thanks to you all who advise me and especially to Jan Roelse !!

Now to finish the job completely, I only need the two axle bumper spacers in the front item nr A 10285
Anybody able to help on that?

thanks

The spacers from Wildenberg are repros, too.

I did not find them on Wildenbergs' site! Where did you get that information, if i may ask?

Besides that I've been informed that one should have different (stronger) front springs if a capstan is installed!
Does anybody know anything about this?
Where does one find them?

thanks again.

Rudy,

Beefier springs were part of kit, but you can probably make do without. Your stacks, how many leaves?

The spacers would be a breeze to fabricate. Once installed who'd know? As a temp solution, could even be cut from hard wood.

Most difficult piece of the puzzle to find for me was the inverted bellcrank. An absolute must.

The heavier front springs are just to replace the 8 leave front springs of the earlier jeeps.
If your jeep has the later 10 leaf front springs, you're fine! Unless, of course, you're going to pull sherman tanks out of the forrest with your winch...

here' s an idea for making the bumbper spacers: take 4 or 5 old original bumpers remove the rubber. put the metal backings together and weld.. clean up with a grinder/ paint.
i did it this way when i fitted my first winch in the 70s.....................i cant remember if 4/5/6 give the correct spaceing..............but when i next get in my garage i will do some measuring.
wilden burg have the spacer [repro] but david told me he wont sell as he is not sure if they are correct for size.....................
the inverted bellcrank is definately a must if winch is fitted to a gpw [ sits lower in frame].........and a friend broke his winch 3 finger mount.......original belcrank hitting drive shaft.

not quite so crucial with the mb setup..............

The Repros I got here (not sure if I bought them from Wildenberg) are the same size as my original ones, but the original ones have one slightly curved surface to match the curve of the frame.
The repros are straight.

How many of you need these spacers? I think I could have them made up fairly easy. If the numbers work, I will have them done up.
