I have a question, but first, Awesome work on the paint job. The color and sheen are perfect.

I am just about to put my tub into the newly built temporary paint booth. I have used Gillepie's 111 red primer and am now ready for the top coat.

I am no pro painter. I shot the underside first and let if dry. I did not have a booth set up yet. It turned out pretty well with a few minor dust imperfections, but heck, the underside will be less noticeable than the top side.

I am using Gillespies 23070 with a 1 part xelene to 4 parts paint. I am using an HVLP gun. What paint did you use? How many top coats? Did you have any flaws? If so, how did you fix them? Did you shoot a matte clear coat? Did you sand and buff the top coat?

I didn't plan on a clear coat, sanding or buffing. I tested this and I can't see how you could maintain the semi-gloss you seem to have achieved. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be very helpful.

Thanks for the Comments. I used the 23070 Gillespie paint as well. I stayed away from the xelene. I use Duponts 3812s fast dry enamel reducer mixed 2 parts paint to 1 part reducer. i used a Binks BBR gun. The temp was around 70 degrees in the booth. The first coat was a fast coat, went back with a lower pressure thick coat. Most of the jeep is 2 coats, Last one being thick. No runs, no flaws really. Alittle over spray inside of tub here and there. I went back and fixed it. No clear coat and i have not sanded or buffed the top coat. It sits like it was sprayed. I used the fluorescent lights in the booth to maintain a even coat. That is the key. I am not a painter either. Just learning as i go. It came out great.....Very happy with it. I took about 2 weeks to really start drying.

I also shot the underside of the tub on a different day and outside. I used the same mix ratio but the temp was hotter and i did about 3 good coats. The paint dried with more gloss. It really comes down to Gun, Pressure,coats, temp and Luck.

It's coming off because I found a in tank filter from ajp. I picked up the filter from a guy at tower park, he had 50 of them for 5.00 ea. All glass Bowl with cleanable filter. It's pretty nice setup though....
