"Tanks a lot!" gas tank sealer

Postby afmuskie » Sat Oct 23, 2010 5:48 am

Hey everyone, restoration is fun but slow. i cleaned and resealed my gas tank this week and it turned out great. The product I used was from KBS coatings. http://www.KBS-COATINGS.com Boy did I ever need this. When I drained the tank the old gas looked like carmelized kerosene! Surprised the mutt still ran. It's just a three step process with a cleaner, rust blaster with self etcher, and the epoxy sealer. I was nervous about the sealer not coating everything but it was fantastic. I even had enough to coat the 2 jerry cans that I have. Tanks going back on today. Next project, replacing both cracked front lower A-arms and all bushings underneath. :D

Looks like a good product. Lots of older restored tractors around here. A lot of them have had to have the inside of their fuel tanks coated. Don't know of anyone who has had problems with them after that, even with all the ethanol used here in the midwest.

Doing the tank as well. It has rust and other solids floating in it. Didn't think about doing the gas cans as well, good idea thanks!
