A friends new converto

Postby emmado22 » Wed Aug 10, 2011 8:47 am

My buddy responded to a Craigslist ad for a "Military Trailer" This is probably the nicest unrestored but used on a farm daily Converto trailer that I have ever seen.
Everything is there, the correct longer/ fatter lunnete, tailgate, reflectors (not pictured, as they were removed prior to pictures taken), reinforced rims, dataplate, etc. The only things missing are the dump handle and associated hardware, electrical wiring/tail lights, and some pins, pouch, and the wing nut.. Even the dump handle connecting rod was original. Of particular note is the original safety latch, (1/2 round, 1/2 rectangular). Body and frame are straight, only a few minor dents in the bottom of the bed than could easily be pounded out if needed.

This just goes to prove there are still some very nice pieces out there that dont cost a ton. This one was bought for less than $1000.

A total resto is in the works for this. He is looking for 2 gently used military tires (not rims) for it to replace the civy ones on there now, if anyone has any. Also a blackout light switch, doesnt need to be perfect, just functional. PM me if you have some for sale.

The bed was media blasted today, and in doing so, it revealed the original stenciling.
