What is this car?

Postby Randy R. » Thu Aug 04, 2011 2:38 pm

Anybody know what type of vehicle this is? This is a picture of one of my wife's patients who passed last year. He is the man on the left. His name is Harold Farber and he was a Surgeon in France and Germany. His Field Hospital was nearly over run at the Battle of the Bulge. Dr. Farber later became the top cardiac Surgeon at Reading Hospital in Reading Pa. Truly a great guy. The car looks like a civilian car that was militarized. I love the black out light and marker light on the fender. Also note the hood # starting with an X.

The "X" in the serial normally designates a vehicle that was donated for army use, or impressed, or captured, though I have seen it on ordinary US jeeps that were being used by other organisations in the UK, like Red Cross and so on.
