I'm pretty sure they won't let me ship beer, but I sent Tom enough to buy quite a few a few weeks ago! I know it's hot, it's no cooler here either!

You coming out here with them in September?

I made no progress this weekend. I was focused entirely on Tori and the boys.

I was just down there Tuesday and Tom and I had been discussing replacing the whole rear floor. It was in pretty bad shape, had so many rust holes it looked like it had been shot with a shotgun.

That's great work.
That's a really neat weld on the fuel tank well to the old floor!
I see you're using only enough of the new floor to replace the rusted section of the old, keeping original what's not rusted. That's how I'd do it, too.

A question: it appears in the pictures that you have the new flooring section 'underlapped', for want of a better word, to the old flooring, but are butt welding it on the other side (the correct way, of course). Are you trimming the new floor to the size of the opening as you go, and if so, how are you doing it? I can't think of a tool that would allow you to do that, or how it could be done. Maybe the picture is deceiving and you have actually trimmed the new panel to the correct size.
I'm really interested to know how you're doing it.

More than likely Tom butt welded the new floor sections to the old. Under or overlaping would not look right.

Pictures one and two. At the top of the picture it looks like you can see the edge of the old floor above the new one, as it looks like a shadow of the old floor falling on the new.
But since you query my question, I guess it's not so. Perhaps you've welded that bit already, and the discolured metal of the weld bead looks like a shadow.

Anyhow, excellent job!

I see what you mean about it looking like a shaddow. It probably is th discoloration of the metal from the weld.

I've just looked at those pictures again.
I now can see that the 'shadow' is actually your weld. Wow! they're the neatest MIG welds I've ever seen! Marvellous work.

Tom uses blue machinists dye and a scratch awl to mark his cuts. I think the "shadow" is the dye.

Nope, still trying to get the front axle together. I'm trying to figure out storage options now. Between these boys & work there ain't much time for the jeep.
