Coast guard jeep, Australia 1944

I don't know that that's correct. I understood the CG only used those 10-man jeeps for the beach Patrol in the U.S. I know there''s 1 surviving 10-man jeep somewhere on the U.S. East Coast - I want to say New Jersey.

I have to concur with that observation. Recently the same stretch jeep clip came up in a thread which I can not find in the moment hence resurrecting this old thread, but it refers to tests being conducted in Australia. The men in the "limo" are clutching to what appears to be the Reising SMG's, a rather unlikely equipment for Down Under, but not entirely impossible..

The Coast Gaurd picked up a bunch of odd small arms during WWII - basically cast-offs from the other services. There are photos of jeeps with M1895 Colt-Browning "potato digger" machine guns mounted, using shipboard mounts that may or may not be bolted down in the jeeps.

On the Bantam is that a two star plate on the front bumper?
Major General Jonathon Wainwright was a two star General before the surrender of the Philippines in 1942.
Nice photo find Tibor!

If they are General Wainwright's surrender party, they may think that they are going to receive food and fair treatment as prisoners of war.

As a small child just after the war, I was raised to hate & despise the asian people because of the way they treated our troops. (Some friends & family) Then there was Korea, then Viet Nam, so, it's just real hard for me to even study the Japanese part of WW2 history. I don't collect anything relating to them, and I think we were way to lenient on them. Even at 66 I just can't get past it.

The last photo, the soldier standing at the rear fender. Is that a hammer he has in his hands?
