Help me value this engine please

Postby Dan S » Thu May 26, 2011 11:07 pm

I'm planning to offer this M37 engine for sale.

Could some of you M37 guys take a look at these pictures and let me know what a fair asking price would be. Any other info you can give me would be helpful. I'm a jeep guy and the M37's are still a bit of a mystery to me.

Here is a link to the pictures.

It is a 230 Engine for WC or Civilian application, and is not set up as an M-37 engine. What is the Model Number stamped on the upper edge of the block behind the Oil Filler Pipe? Am sure I recognize the application, but the number will speak for itself. Where is the engine located?

Here are the numbers from the block.. T2I4SR-0I29.

Am I correct that this engine is a 1942-1945 engine for a WC-51 to WC-61?

Thanks,

It is a 1968 Gov't contract retro fit for the WC trucks still in foreign use. Note the offset on the front mounting plate and bellhousing, it is set up for WC and PW which is different than M-37.
Nice find.

The web search that I did with the engine number indicated the engine was a 1942 to 1945. Maybe the web site I used had bad info?

Any idea what I should ask for this engine? I don't need it and someone out there may really need this engine.

And the information was probably correct for the time period in which it was published. From thos pictures tho, the engine is one of those manufactured in 1968 for use on wartime trucks.
