Want to Buy Ben Hur

Postby Zack Magnusson » Sun May 15, 2011 6:02 pm

I'm interested in purchasing a Ben Hur trailer, preferably a nice survivor or restored. Don't really want to start with a basket case. The closer to Huntsville, Alabama, the better.

Tom,

If Zack does not want that trailer, I live in Southern Ca. and am looking for one as well. Would you be willing to post the link?

There are roughly 654 miles between us. I turned the lunette yoke upside down to keep the trailer level behind my Grand Cherokee when towing. Price is $700.00. I plan to restore this trailer soon, then I may not want to sell it. 8)

Topkick,
Very nice trailer for the price! Wish I was a bit closer, would love to have that as a winter project. My wife thinks 1 Ben-Hur is enough, but after I put the generator and aircompressor in it, I would not mind having another one to haul tentage, gear, and cooking equipment in!
Good luck gentlemen!

How about 450 miles? I'm considering selling mine. Great shape, very solid comes with original wood and new wood milled from a WW2 CCKW's racks. also has original canvas top in serviceable condition.

I'm on my way out the door to work now, I have more pictures and so on. It's about 25 miles nort of dayton OH, right off I-75.

Thanks Topkick. Nice trailer, but looking for something a little closer to home. Stuff I've had shipped lately tends to cost more that I expected when I bought the item.

Mike,
Interested. Sent you an E-mail.

I bought it a year ago and was planning to restore it but with my WC62 in the garage, I don’t have room for it or to work on it and I’m tired of paying storage fees for it.

It’s very solid, I was told it was originally a generator trailer. It was made by Gertenslager and the data plates are both there.
It needs, taillights, a wiring harness and reflectors. One fender is dented as shown in the pictures.

It comes with original wood racks and 2 sets of top bows, one flat and one slightly arched . it also has new wood milled from period CCKW wood. It has the gate hardware and latches. The Cover is military issue and marked, I think. I have never unfolded it, it has some small holes that were patched with silicone. I have a repro taillight mount to replace the one missing on the right side.
NO rust through!

I would like to get $1300 for it but that is negotiable.
