parts for CJ-3A

Postby GI jeeps » Fri Feb 18, 2011 2:54 pm

I'm an MB / GPW guy so I need some help here. I've got a customer who is looking for a fuel tank and rear seat frame for a 1947 CJ-3A.
First thing I need to know is, are they the same as for the CJ-2A or unique to the type? Not sure yet if he insists on original or will settle for repops.
If you've got anything sitting around for sale, I may be interested. thx JB

The fuel tanks are the same, the seats varied as there are 3 styles I believe, check out the 3a site and the 3b sites they have seat i.d.'s on them. I like 3a's 8)

The back of the CJ3A seats are set further aft since the 3A has the shortened rear wheel houses. The 2A seats will fit into the 3A but the 3A seats won't fit in a 2A.

fuel tanks interchange between 2a and 3a......

Cuz, rear seat frame here, not front seat frames :) all 3 styles of rear seat frames fit either model, but each was specific to a time period...CJ5 seats do not fit the 2A/3A/3B tubs without modification.... http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/RearSeat.html

no such animal as a 1947 3A........either is a 1947 2A, or a 1949 and on 3A.....

I bought my tank from a auto supply in Omaha or council bluffs there. I would have to look up the sheet if I can find it. I think it was in council bluffs on the south side of the main street. The jeep would have to be a 2a as 3a were not built till late 48 I believe
