M1-Carbine mag butt pouch?

Postby rjmast » Mon Nov 15, 2010 3:07 pm

Hi all, I just purchased a M1-Carbine with a butt two clip pouch. It has the male part of a button snap on the inside of the pouch that rubs against the butt stock. Does anyone know what it's purpose is. Thank you in advance.

Posted in your other post, it was made to snap on a pistol belt.

That pouch was never intended to be used on the buttstock. It was designed to slide over the pistol belt and snap on where the .45 pistol mag pouch would go. In later issuance's, the pouch was made so it wouldn't fit the buttstock

A web belt was made with female snaps just for the carbine pouch you describe.

May not have been made to go on the stock but GI's used it just that way. I have them on all my Carbines and put a 2" x 2" patch of fuzzy velcro over it to protect the stocks. Works great! :D
