Opportunity with a WWI MARK V Liberty Tank

Post by mkoloc » Mon Dec 06, 2010 9:36 am

Stooped by to see my good bud Larry (Papabear on SS) couple of days ago and he asked me if I wanted to take a quick run out to a motor-pool to look at a job he'd been asked to handle, something to do with a Liberty tank. Being an old Armor Dog I told Larry that the only Liberty tanks that I knew about were built during WWI and were monsters .. sure enough here's what we found. This Mark V has been sitting at Aberdeen for years and is complete to include the running gear and weapons, she was crewed by 8: Commander, driver, 2 gearman and 4 gunners. I am determined to get some interior shots this week. There was some additional pieces (Panther Tank, Panzerspahwagen, Several PaK's) being transported from Ft. Knox (Armor Museum) sitting on flatbeds before being moved down to the secure storage site on Ft. Benning .. grabbed a few shots of those beauties. My heart was pounding like a ma-deuce!

Am I hallucinating or is that panther resting on it's belly? How did they load it?
