GPW Info Needed

Was wondering If I could get some info on this GPW I picked up. GPW 129448


Here are a few pics

I am not sure the original color. I see shades of grey in it but cannot really tell....

Nice project, tub has had some over paneling the rear corners shouldn't be that square. Front horns will stand a bit of work is there an engine and transmission in the project or is that bits to top the shopping list? Have you purchased already or still considering?
What's,s your plan? I see someone moved the data plate to the dash off the glove box door any obvious reason? Post a pick of the plates and the chassis number if you have found it?
Tub would appear to be either Willys or late composite type note the round indents on the tool box locks.

According to the tub it is 129448.
Yeah the floors have been completely chopped up too. It is actually a street sign as the floor. I do have a GPW Motor but it does not match the tub and frame. I also have a trans and t case from a previous project I am going to use. Already purchased it and have started the frame repair.
I can't tell from the color, I wonder if the grey was the original color ?
I really like that color.

The original color would have been olive drab, as all jeeps were done that color. I think Marine jeeps were painted forest green but not sure if it was a first coat at the factory, or a second one over the O.D. But naval grey and other jeeps were all painted post factory, over the O.D., and then only where they could get to easily with the spray gun.

Those front horns sure have had a number done on them, but with careful angle grinder, dremel and file work you may be able to remove the old crappy welding and properly repair the cracks.
Repro ones (though not really identical to original GPW horns) are available, too.
