1945 GPW found online
Hi guys,
Found this lovely looking 45 GPW online for sale, I wonder if it is still available or not? Must be a very late GPW (like August 45?) to have what appears to be a factory vacuum wiper set up, if only I lived in the US, you guys are so lucky!!
Cheers
Matt

Re: 1945 GPW found online
It is isn't it, I haven't even finished my 45 GPW yet and I want to do this one!
Just to add to what I mentioned earlier I just noticed the wiper pipe going through the factory cut tub hole on the side, I think this is the first GPW i've seen with a factory wiper set up??

Vacuum wipers were factory fited on jeeps as standard in 1945, not too sure i think they started fitting them around March of that year. That jeep looks a really good find, is there a lucky buyer yet ?

Re: 1945 GPW found online
According to the Nabholtz book, vacuum wipers were factory fitted on some MBs from March 1945, and on GPWs as standard from July 1945, hope this clears this issue up guys,

Hi All,
GPW now resides in Hamilton New Zealand ............huge thanks to original state side owner for all your help with the export.
Still a lot of original OD under two coats of paint with a lot of the old paint flaking off with the use of a razor blade, original hood numbers uncovered on left side of hood.
Body and fenders never been off chassis, body lock nuts still in place as well as fender welting, pretty rust free apart from hole in rear floor, all original gauges apart from temp gauge.
Just fitted original combat rims and Firestone NDT's
DOD 7 - 10 - 45
Serial# 275854
Hood# 20743777
Body# 256341
Cheers

Re: 1945 GPW found online
Excellent news! I spent 1.5 years in Hamilton, too bad I'm not there now to visit. Of course we are all going to ask to see as many detail photos as you can give please, I would be very interested to see the vacuum tube clip locations and details of its set up. Does it have plain bolts on grab handles, spare tyre bracket, gas can, fenders and horn mount? Also details of the bolts for the seats and floor covers/ dimmer ring would be very much appreciated!
Congratulations again on a lovely jeep!
Matt

Re: 1945 GPW found online
Hi All,
Thanks for your comments.
I will try to remove the paint layers to preserve as much of the original OD, most of the old paint comes off easily with a razor blade..
Attached pics, not the best lighting in shed - will post some better ones when weather better outside.
All body handles and fender bolts all plain
Waltham speedo
Bolts missing on master cylinder access plate and non original fitted to spare tyre and jerry can brackets
Cheers
