Hi all,
I dragged this firewall out while looking for something else. It had some goodies still on it and yielded a huge amount of information regarding fitment of parts in relation to correct parts for the period AND fitment order related to the first or subsequent coats of OD (painting order).
ACM 2, # 84756. I checked the g503data base for body numbers and came up with mid 44'ish as the approx date for the firewall. Feautres present/lacking seem to agree with around this time too.
I documented it to share with you all because I know there are a lot of guys on here who like this kind of information. I hope it is of assistance to you in your restorations (I know it will help me on my September 44 GPW!).

If it helps- the 2 wiring clip screws were 10-24x 1/2 long round head screws (despite different clip types, screws are the same). Both use standard split loch washers with standard hex nuts.
The #10 pan head sheet metal screw (if original?) was 1/2 long too.

On a side note Bill, I still have 3 or 4 more unrestored jeeps I recently photographed to tag and add up, a few trailers and 2 more firewalls- though the firewalls are integral to assisting the lean to shed roof they reside under at the moment!!!

Nice work Ian, ties in with what I found on my GPW, the firewall pad should have a good OD covering on it too then where it was hit after fitting. My pad was covered in post war overspray so I couldn't tell. I also found exactly the same style fender anti squeak strips but I didn't find any sign of impregnation of them.

Well you may be right. I was basing it on the fact that they were very dark and well matted/stuck together- given, I am making an assumption here, but I assumed this sticking together coupled with the darkness was because of some impregnated substance? Perhaps impregnated is the wrong word? Soaked maybe???

Water ingress/ dirt etc plus 70 years of compression may be the reason that the strips were in this condition.
