I've been lurking around for a week or so but finally took delivery today of GPW-85800. I've wanted one since I was a kid, and now that I have one I'm happy to be among you guys.

Thanks! She has some minor rust here and there, but over all it's very solid, definitely no complaints here. I'm sure I will have questions as I go along but it runs and drives as it is so I will be taking my time. Well at least as much as my wallet will allow

Nice find!

What's the square tag just to the right of the e-brake handle?

The tag looks to be a shipping plate, and the hole pattern below the tag looks to be for a first aid kit bracket. These two items were factory installed on later Jeeps. If I had to guess, since the center dataplate is also missing, this might be a "salad" jeep. The passenger-side seat looks like an early MB with "split" seam (see photo below).

Regardless, it looks fairly complete and solid! Congrats again!

Here's the tag

Both front seats are MB split seam. There are no numbers stamped on the toe board gusset I haven't started digging around on it to much but the price was right and I couldn't pass it up I'm pretty happy with it

Looks to me like the previous owner had a CJ-2A style half cab soft top installed at one time evidenced by the three footman loops in the bed. Are sockets installed behind the seats on the wheel wells for the bows ? That aside, the jeep looks solid with minimal body damage.

Yes the sockets are there looks like they trimmed out a little bit and welded in the tubes

Thanks for the confirmation on the sockets. You have a great jeep to start with. Most would relish a jeep in that condition. Keep us posted on her restoration.

Thank you! I still haven't done much to it other than cleaning it up a little and driving it around a bunch. It's kinda like a treasure hunt looking for the "f" stamps not sure why. I'm still not sure where to start but new tires are high on the list.

That is a great looking jeep. Congrats. I think you have the right idea, drive her around and enjoy, she will tell you what you need to work on.

nice solid jeep.

Is the front rim seen on this photo an early slat rim?

Hi Spec,

Hope your project is coming along well.

Would you mind sharing a photo of the mirror arm on this jeep? Even if you think it is incorrect, i`m still keen to see.

I`m trying to piece together a pattern of what was on what and when, so any and all information welcome!

Ian.
