Great looking jeep Matt with some very hard to find parts intact - look after that ignition switch - the last one I saw went for 1500 dollars on epay!
I love these California projects. What part of the UK are you based?

Hi Dave,

Yes i'm really pleased with it, the bodies really solid with all the wood intact and very few dings or damage, its quite remarkable really. It's interesting how it seems relatively unused and yet the mechanicals are very good too so it hasnt been sitting around, I pulled the sump and found no tide marks or gunge in there (other than in the strainer) and yet it doesnt look like its been apart before, F bolts still intact. Perhaps its just California! It's now living in the slightly more wet West Sussex :(

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,

Very solid looking GPW.

Is the delivery date May 23 45 ?
What is the body number ( found on the front face of the driver's side toe board gusset ) ?
What is the motor's casting date ( found below the distributor in a letter than numbers format ) ?

If you do not find the original hood number I have it on file from copies of original Ford documents that I have purchased.

Hi Tom,
thats the correct date. The frame, glovebox and motor are 268333 but the body gusset is a different number. I think that glovebox must have been swapped onto the body at some point? The hood i've uncovered is 20735216, if I recall correctly but id love to know what number you have!
Cheers Matt

You found the correct hood number.

The body number is not matching numbers to the frame, motor, data plate on a GPW.

Ah Thanks Tom, that makes sense! Is there any other info to be found about specific GPW's or is it not possible? The thread further along about GPW 268350 has the same post war gun rack fitted to it so I presume they must have been sold off together or spent time at the same place at one point in their history, would love to find out where this was and at what point
cheers

I own GPW 37006 frame and matching script Ford body. The data plates read 6-23-42 as the date of delivery. No engine though. Just 99 numbers from your frame. :D

Hi Matt,

Is 237105 the body number or the frame number ? I took it to be the body number.

In your first post above you say GPW 268333 is all matching.

Didnt mean to write frame. Body/Gusset looks to be 237105, rest is 268333
Thanks
