Interesting idea of using electrolysis, maybe the piston rings will not release cause they are sealed from the solution of water that you use, keep going and change the rod to make the reaction stronger, maybe they will relegase after some tríes keep the good job.

Okay it has been a while since I have posted. I am still working on getting the pistons freed up and out. I kept trying the electrolysis method but it really didn't take it too far. I switched to using muriatic-acid and have opened up an 1/8" gap around the circumference of the cylinders. I can start to see the top ring so I went back to electrolysis to clean it up some more. I am still soaking but still doesn't seem to make a difference.
I also added the front gussets and patched some areas on the frame that needed repaired. The front rails I ordered were longer than the original so I had to mill them down to match what was on there. I wanted to save the rails but I thought they were too bent up and cut short to salvage them.
The frame is getting blasted and I hope to get it back this weekend.
Anyway here are the latest photos.

I finally got the frame sand blasted and painted with Eastwood Rust Encapsulator. I was hoping to get it primed red and then a couple coats of OD but that will probably have to wait until next spring. The rust encapsulator seems to be really good paint. It goes on like water then seems to have an quick drying epoxy like feel to it in the next 7 to 10 seconds. It really looks good and I hate to have to store it until next year but I don't have anything ready for it to sit on or sit on it.
I also got the the pistons out. Looking at the pistons after they were out I found they weren't corroded around the rings but after getting one out the aluminum had oxidized all around the cylinder walls. I would think a month of soaking would allow the oil etc. to seep in but it didn't seem to. I had a steel rod with a sharp point and was able to chip away at the wrist pin aluminum. I think chipping away the metal allowed some flexibility around the circumference of the piston. i hit it a few times on both side then sprayed a lubricant in and came back in an hour and I was able to knock them out. There were no grooves in the cylinder walls and it looks like surface corrosion.
Now I have to work on getting the intake and exhaust valves out and they seem to be stuck just like the pistons were. If any one has ideas other than soaking please let me know. I am tempted to cut the stems off and then when I can get the cam shaft out come in from the bottom side.

I am still soaking the valves but not much movement so I will continue to soak.
I moved on to taking the transmission apart and start the process of replacing the parts. It was pretty dry and most of the gears has some pitting on them. The dust that fell out all stuck to a magnet so I would think it came from the chipped gears. The cover had a nice Ford script on it. I put a coat of Eastwood Rust Encapsulator on it then primed and hope to get it painted in later today.
The gears look pitted except the reverse idler gear.
I combined 4 photos per each one loaded, I hope they show up okay.

I was waiting on some parts to come in and decided to try and tackle removing the stuck valves from the engine. It wasn't one valve stuck it was all eight. I had been soaking them for 3 or 4 months and I was never able to get them to move. I even broke one off at the top of the guide.
I ended up having my welder friend weld nuts on the top of the valves then we tried to use a puller to yank them out. the stems were so rusty they still wouldn't budge. I then put an impact wrench on it and they would spin and would start to come up like they were threaded about 1".
At this point he heated up the guide and with me spinning he took an open box end wrench and a block of wood for leverage was able to get them out. In hindsight I would have cut the stems off to shorten the time it took to clear the top of the guide.

Since the PO installed a CJ Harrison heater, I take it that he removed the glove box for I think that is the only way it would fit correct ?

CJV-35 I will have to get back with you on that as I don't remember and for some reason I didn't take a photo of it when I finally was able to get the glove box door open.
It may be a few days before I can go see what it looks like. I'll let your know.

It has been awhile so i thought I would catch those following me on the progress I have been making.
As you can see by the photos lots of dis-assembly and cleaning going on. I finished up tearing down all major parts this last weekend.
Lots of clay, grease, and use of the putty knife to scrape it off.
All the bearings has some pitting so I decided to replace them all. I was hoping to save some of them but it looks like they sat without being turned.
The rear axle had a bearing failure at some point and when I pulled off the brake drum the rollers fell out. They must have been driving on it for a while as the inside bearing race is loose in the brake drum. I wonder what kind of sounds it was making? I'll have to keep an eye open for a new brake drum now.
I keep finding gray paint so I suspect it spent time in the Navy.
I am pretty happy no more grease and clay to deal with!

Good job removing all the blocked parts, keep it and hope you can save some internals on the T84
