Hi Dan,
You have a great project there. Looks like you have some nice early bits (filterette, early GPW axle). It looks like you have a later GPW bonnet (mid 44 on) with the reinforcement plates
where the grease gun bracket is fixed. So, the reg number you have found (super find) is probably not correct for your early MB. There is probably more guys on the 'G' who can date the reg number better than me.

I think the hood numbers are mid 44, how can you tell its a gpw rather than a mb bonnet?

I think i'll be needing all the good luck i can get

Hi Dan,

How do I know it's a GPW hood? I can see the 'f' script! . Not really,but it should be there.
The MB bonnet has a separate small (apprx 4 inches long) piece of 'hat' channel overlapping the two piece 'hat' channel near the hinge between the earth strap bolts.
Also the grease gun stuff was added early than I remembered around March 44, approx two months after Willys intro.

The Dutch guys stuff is constructed the correct way, all holes drilled in correct places and FITS!
Small crack?? looks like the body is holding the rear together , still have seen worse!

Out of interest where should the f script be?

The small crack is one of a lot that are a bi-product of bubba welding the chassis to the body at the back.

production flat top grills on willys first appeared on, or about, 9-10 MAR 42 DODs...not in FEB...

the last slat grills in the MB-125700 to MB-125800 range (all MAR 42 DODs) used body tubs numbered in the very high 27XXXs...

tubs numbered 25XXX were used up during late FEB slat production and had frame numbers ranging from MB-1221XX to MB-1241XX...

for example MB-122533 has tub number 25774...

I suggest it was only ever a slat...and the flat top grill just an MWO/rebuild to upgrade to new standard if done in service

You will find the 'f' script on the hinge, on the side that is facing you once bolted to the scuttle centre-ish between bolt holes.

Good info from Jim. It's great that we have people on the 'G' who correlate and pass on this kind of info.

I then removed the frame a few repairs and i can re-fit it.
