I believe the gear box serial number is the date of the built of the box, "D" is for the forth month of the year , "44" the year, so the box should be dated of April 1944. the insideof the gear box looks pretty nice! maybe the first reverse pinion is appear dammaged.
Is there any play on the bearing seats Front and rear of the gera box?
The bearings are any play it will be replaced.
Markings on the transfer gear box are erased.

I'm questioning your date coding?

My memory is poor but my 44 MBs T84 is A1244D and in the past the date was A=January, 12 is the date and 44 the year. The D was a mold number?

C1644D using this method would be March 16, 1944.

I need a link on transmission codes please... to confirm.

Hello,

No my Jeep is not over far is needed!
I lack money to be able to advance the restoration, too many other things to buy!
But I'm finally going to be able to make a big order of parts so I can redo my gearboxes, finish the brakes, and start restoring the axle.
The photos will follow
Bye
