When the jeep will be home I will post other pictures with details.
I am very happy about this nice barn find!
Cheers,
Contribution Part II:
I have been able to gather additional information on the jeep from the daughter of the previous owner
Wolfhounds are painted on the jeep. The jeep may have been in the wolfhound division of the war. The serial number of the jeep might give more insight as to where it was in the war theatre.
The jeep was originally purchased by my dad in California 1962. I learned to drive in the desert in this jeep in Carson City NV and will always cherish that memory. To change to 4 wheel drive you have to get out, change the lugs and I did it by myself. There are many memories of travels in the jeep - we went to Ft. Wingate New Mexico, Kit Carson cave, and the Painted Desert one summer. It was hot since no air conditioning but we did not care. What a great time especially for a young person.
The jeep has been in Oregon, Idaho, Washington and towed to Alaska on the Alaskan Highway (ALCAN) where my dad worked on the XXXXXX in the 1970's. The jeep then came back to Nevada and then moved to Texas in 1996 where it has been ever since. The jeep has been in our family all these years and it has been well cared for.
It is hard to part with such a great piece of history but we will always have the memories
As of today this jeep will be called <<Wolfhounds>>
Contribution III:
The jeep should arrive home next Thursday ...

Re: Very nice unrestored MB 1943 : For SALE
I went to look at a GPW that the previous owner of Wolfhounds had and almost bought the Wolfhounds Jeep. I had put a deposit down and everything. Man do I kick myself in the @$$ for not buying that. I don't really think I knew the significance of what I was looking at. Or maybe I just thought oh I'll just come across another one.I was new into the hobby and had only owned one other GPW at the time and was just purchasing my second one. Now six Jeeps later I'm still looking for that original nice well worn patina that just need to be maintained, driven & enjoyed just the way it is, Never restored.
Congratulations to the new owner, enjoy the Wolfhounds!!

Re: Very nice unrestored MB 1943 : For SALE
When I took the Wolfhounds Jeep and showed it to the Jeep Doctor Edward Medwik that I officially have named him the "Jeep Professor" he was gob smacked Edward can see that I am Jeep sick and is going over it and replacing what is not correct the springs for one the motor is post war that in time will be replaced he cannot believe that it still has the original axe and shovel, back seat frame and canvas, sparton horn, combat rims, to be very honest I was extremely lucky to buy it all the way from Australia how this Jeep wasn't snapped up in the US is beyond me' I think it was meant to be, all my life I wanted a Jeep, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to come with his family to go visit his grand parents that live in the county we were 13 or 14 years old at the time and running around as kids do so we took a look in the shed you guys call, a barn" and in it was a jeep I so wish I took a picture at the time it looked like it was 95% intact cant say for sure if it was WW2 or post, yes I asked if the old man would sell the answer was no!
years past so I took a drive back the house was empty and the barn half fallen dawn the jeep was picked to the bone ,,,so I had to clear my mind and just the other day I went back for the last time now I am 55 years old, the house in poor shape and not a bolt left from that jeep all was gone not sold stolen sad to see.
When you really! want something, it will come in good time movies books magazine's then the age of computers made it so easy to find Jeeps all over the world, and the sickness goes on here is my latest acquisition a 1944 GPW looks to me an original or a very old restoration hard to tell good health to us all
