This is an untouched, original 1945 Ford GPW Jeep. It was put into storage in May of 1945 until it was declared surplus by the War Assets Commission. The Jeep was then sold at auction (8/28/45) in new condition with only 30 miles. The GPW spent its life with a trucking business in south-western Pennsylvania. It was stored indoors and was occasionally used for hunting and snow plowing. The original owner died in 1998 and it was sold with his estate. At that time, the odometer showed only 05754 miles. I am the third owner.

This GPW still has ALL ORIGINAL olive drab paint, original canvas seats & crash pads, original data plates and the original windshield glass (with dates). The cowl has War Assets Commission stenciled on it, as well as the auction date. The Jeep also has (4) original Goodyear tires. As many of you know, this was the contract in which Jeeps were delivered with no spare tire due to the rubber shortage at the time. The U.S. registration numbers are still visible in blue drab on the hood. The original owner installed a push bumper with a snow plow lift arm. There are three holes in the center floor for a snow plow lift (hand pump), two for the mounting pump and one for the hydraulic line. The front bumper and bumper gussets have been replaced. There is some very minor rust on the floor (by the gas pedal) and in the glove box. The GPW now shows 05991 on the odometer. It has a clear Pennsylvania title, and it runs and sounds like a jeep with only 6,000 miles on it!

This Ford GPW has been shown at the Hershey AACA fall meets since 1999 and has the AACA HPOF (Historical Preservation Original Features) Award. It is truly one of the rarest and untouched original Jeeps out there today. A must have for the serious Jeep or Ford collector or museum. JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS!

and the frame number is only 65 away from mine, that helps narrow down a hood number. Great pics too!

Not my jeep.

In terms of value, with the devalued dollar and inflation, 50K is not out of line.
Ideal example of low mileage unmolested G-503.

It is a wonderful example, but 50K? Seriously for an old rusty jeep? I guess if there is a really rich dude out there with lots of cash who just has to have it then maybe, but I can't see any serious collector shelling out that kind of money for it.

Then again, I'm just a dad with a wife and morgage who can barely keep his jeep on the road.

Very nice example though. Should probably be in a museum someplace....

The originality disappeared when the fresh OD was dusted on, it changed the personality of the Jeep. The advanced corrosion and rust is a concern as it will continue until the Jeep body is totally disassembled and restored. If memory serves me correct, there was a video of this Jeep on G-503 within the past two or three years, the repaint is recent.

Are the GPW and MB sold? I would guess they sold for very close to the asking price. A few years ago when the GPW was on ebay I offered a lot of money for it and was declined.

I've never seen a grease gun holder mounted under the bonnet like that before. You learn something new nearly every day on this site.
Great pics.
