Oh my God,
it is always nice to see how still well-preserved vehicles are in circulation.

I have been wondering how many jeeps there are in the original paint.

Best regards!

The Regiment Van Heutsz was part of the 38th Infantry Regiment of the 2nd USID 'Indianhead' during the Korean war.

Another marking very rarely encountered is the Dutch military in the Dutch East-Indies 1945-1950, who used loads of WW2 jeeps. Original photos that show the markings are easy to find.

Weather is very good in Europe this year.
Already had a few short trips to get confidence in the Willys.
Just found out that the carb is leaking fuel, which probably causes the bad starting when hot.

Hello Frank,

You have created a Masterpiece, like a Rembrandt :D :D :D
Excellent work, and enjoy the great European summer with your great Jeep !!!

Did you sell your original tub to someone who can work on restoring it ?

Please post more pictures as the summer goes along, with your jeep adventures .

Hello Frank,

I saw a picture of your 5 gallon US Gas Can in an earlier post
that has " Wrecker" written on it.
Do you have any history on it, and where you found it ?
France, Germany, Holland ?

The reason being is that the 275th Infantry Regiment of the 70th Infantry Division radio call sign and Regimental Code Name
was "Wrecker" , signifying the 275th Infantry Regiment, and was generally called Wrecker during the War.

My father had a "Wrecker" machine gun jeep with his water cooled .30 on dash.

The division's 3 Infantry Regiments were the 274th, 275th, and 276th.
Their regimental code names were Wyoming, Wrecker, and Wriggle.
These names were picked because it was commonly understood that the Germans had a very hard time pronouncing
the " silent W " and could be exposed as Germans if they tried to pronounce the words on the radio or during any contacts.
Here is some info on call signs and code names used by the Trailblazers :
https://www.trailblazersww2.org/history_codes.htm

The 70th entered combat in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, then into Forbach and the Saarland of Germany.

The can looks great !!!
Let me know if you ever want to sell it :D
It would have a great place on the back of my 70th Division Jeep :D :D

Best Regards,
Ray

Hello Ray,

that's a very interesting story!
And gave a lot of nice reading.

I never thought of selling the can.
Let me have a thought of it...remind me of it later please ;)

Hello Frank,

Thanks for the update, will do, and please post more pics of your jeep when you can !
It is almost as beautiful as your beautiful Dutch girls :D :D :D
I have never seen so many beautiful girls anywhere, and so friendly, outside of Holland :D :D :D
Pictures of your jeep and Dutch girls would be the best option , speaking for all the members of the G !!!!

KLM has to have the best and most beautiful stewardesses anywhere as well.

It is expensive, Whats the gearbox in it, anymore pics of underneath? Prices in thérapie émotionnelle Europe are so much more than the states but at the right price might be a nice project.
Great looking jeep Matt with some very hard to find parts intact - look after that ignition switch - the last one I saw went for 1500 dollars on epay!
Thanks!

Hi Frank,

As I’ve got MB 131175, I have always enjoyed this thread!

Way back at the beginning , your Jeep had a mirror arm still fitted. Regardless if you believe it original or not, can you please share a few photos of it?

I’m trying to get some info and develop a pattern of what was fitted to what.

Thanks again for a great thread.
Ian.

Hello Ian,

Missed your post for a while...
Herewith some pictures.
When you need some details, please let me know.

I've been figuring out if the arm was stamped, something tells me it was, but anyway I did not make any picture of it, or it wasn't stamped at all.
