Thanks for all the compliments guys! I'm currently working on the fenders now and also taking care of small items that I've been putting off.

My hood hinge was cracked and missing a chunk of metal. I wanted to preserve my original "F" stamped hinge so I repaired it by welding a new piece of metal onto it. I still need to drill out the hole but it turned out just fine.

I finally rigged up the chassis so I could drive it and get all the bugs worked out before installing the tub. It ran pretty good and the transmission shifted fine, however I found a small oil leak coming from the crankshaft nut. I'll have to fix that along with adjusting the carb a bit.

Sorry for the long pause at the end of the video. :)

Over the last few weeks I have finished the fenders, grill, and hood. Fixed an oil leak from the crankshaft pulley and today I primered all of the above. I also welded in new studs for the rear seat J hooks and received my new rear back seat.

The hood had mega dents on it that were all covered with bondo before sandblasting it. It also looked like bubba took a ball peen hammer in an attempt to pound them out which stretched the metal of course.
Image

Image

Image

After two days with a hammer and dolly and a lot of heat shrinking I got it to an acceptable condition. The shrinking disk did it's job again. Best body work tool I have bought to date!

The front portion of the hood was bent down a bit so I tried the old 2X4 and clamp trick. It worked to a point then I ran the shrinking disk on the crease and it flattened it out pretty good.
Image

After all the work on the dents the main portion became a bit oil canny so I took the shrinking disc to it and it tighted right up.
Image

Image

I like to rattle can some primer over the repaired areas so I can see if I need to do anymore work on it before the final primer is sprayed. It turned out pretty good and I'm just going to leave as it is. Not perfect but close enough.
Image

Image

After the final coat of primer with the spray gun.

I then repaired the bubba mods on the grill and removed all the original welting studs along with a portion of the original wiring that was left attached.

I have no idea what this mod was for.

Or the angle iron welded on top

Primered ready for paint

Got my rear seat delivered and it fit perfect.

Image

I had to weld in new studs for the J hooks.
Image

Primered the hood, fenders, grill, top bow, gas tank, rear seat and my front driver's seat was delivered today so I primered that too.

Image

Image

Image

I test fitted the tank with the new seat and everything looks like it will line up.
Image

Image

I also test fitted one of the fenders for Crimp One Off and grins.

Next step is to put a final coat of paint on the tub and install the main wiring harness. It's getting there!

You worked wonders with that hood, I remember how bad it was when you first started. Did you use any bondo on it? About how long did it take you to get it looking that nice?
just curious
thanks

Thank You. It took about two days of work. I only used a skimming of bondo to the repaired areas.

I've been diligently working on the jeep for the last few weeks, trying to meet that deadline for the vets day parade in November.

I completed everything I could with the tub on the rotisserie including the final coat of paint and installing the new main wiring harness. After I got the harness installed I removed the tub from the rotisserie and put it on the saw horses.

I then welded the remaining holes on the rear and front of the tub where the rotisserie was and applied the final coat of paint to the rear panel.

Today I completed all the wiring under the dash, wired the trailer receptacle and installed most of the accessories. The tub is now ready for install as soon as I take care of some leaks on the main chassis. Hopefully I'll have the tub on this weekend.

I hit a Milestone today! I installed the tub on to the frame! Yaaaay! Thank's to Bob Shaw for giving me some tips, it went on with little effort. Also thanks to my wife and neighbors for helping me lift it. It's finally looking like a jeep! :)

Today I put the steering back in and installed some more accessories including the tail lights and reflectors. I had a problem with the brake pedal shaft not lining up properly so I had to take it off the linkage and bend it a bit to get it to line up.

I also put the driver's side fender and hood on to check out the fitting.
