My 1942 GPW has a green Sheller steering wheel.

Name over wheel wells
"Red-Rose"
Also has star on left rear panel , and stars on each side of jeep .
Jeep also has small white squares painted on it, with a green, (not od), cross intersecting it, on both sides of jeep, on side panel above exterior foot rests.
I am doing a "preservation" restoration on this jeep, touching up the markings where damaged.
I have uncovered all these markings using a bush button razor scraper blade.
