Hi everyone,

I think my last post got lost. :D

We have just bought a G.P.W (we been told it is a 43) frame number 96952 not original engine (she was in the British army for a while) engine number 156345.

We are new to this but have tried to research her, so any information you guy's may have would be welcome.

Regards
Tony

Welcome aboard Tony!

While I am a California native, I believe that the Tommies and Aussies kept records you can access today....hopefully a UK jeeper here will be able to add something in regard to that but for now, Tom W. may be able to help with some original info:
1) If you have the data plate, post a pic
2) Take a good pic of the frame number and post that as well.
3) Post a pic of the tub number (found on the left front tub gusset that is bolted to the frame (near where the oil can is mounted only lower)
4) Post a pic of the engine number and the casting below the distributor (like maybe "G12522")

That'll get ya started.
Remember: there are no dumb questions, just the ones you don't know the answer to yet!
Try to get the SNL G-503 and a TM 9-803 books to get you some readin' material and learn to use the SEARCH function on the gee...

Took the engine out today for a rebuild & found that on the side of the engine we have a stamp G.P.W 6015..

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Tony,

The number GPW 6015 on the side of the block under the Distributer is the Ford part number for the block. Your engine serial number which is on the pad behind the oil filter, you said was 156345. Does that have GPW in front of it? I have a replacement Ford engine in mine, but it just has the serial number, without the GPW.
