Very very rough. Willys frame stamped Gpw. 4209 * has a star after the 9
Can anybody tell me any info on this. Dod?? Also did they use any other Willys parts on these early for jeeps?? Thanks
I may be able to retrieve a hood number.

My guess is sometime in early March of 42. 5235 is the 12th but different plants used different blocks of numbers so it could be before or after that day

After 3 hrs of scraping. Hood numbers are 2987620
Does that sound correct??

I was wrong on my hood numbers. I went back and wet sanded and scraped more. The correct numbers are 2087520
They are in blue. Also my glove box bottom is flat

With a hood number of 2087520 - you have a MB from the Spring of '42.

With a hood number of 2067520 you have a GPW from about March 2, '42.

It's a ford script body so maybe the 8 is a 6. It so hard to tell but sure looks like a 8

My wife used to take a photo of numbers that were hard to read and load them on the computer. In Photoshop, she would paly with the contract and colors and sometimes could read some things better that way than with the naked eye.
She just took a photo of a Model T engine I am restoring and we thought it was black, but under the flash and on the computer, it is definately green.

Might be worth a try.
