it at one time had a M48 mount attached as the third data plate is mounted left of the glove box. Glove box door has been rewelded back to add teh missing part. it appears teh holes are there from the M48 mounting.

Hi Rob,

Great find! Whats the history of it? What are you going to do with it? Does it run?

Your a lucky guy with those paint can lid gauges- even more so with the temp still there (bet it still works too!) Also some good trading material with that slat MB motor and short windscreen.

Few questions if you wouldnt mind answering/taking pictures.
Can you get a picture of the horn and brackets with the bolts- are you saying the bolts holding the laminations to the horn are F marked or the ones holding the bracket to the firewall?

What type of bolts are in these places: (picture would be great as then we get to see more of the jeep too!)
Hood hinge
Brake inspection plate
Transmission plate
Pass seat to floor
Drivers seat to floor
Drivers seat guard panel to rear floor

Cheers and congrats!

Ian.

Hi Chuck,

Are you looking at the top right gauge or the bottom right one? Top right is a post war ammeter i think and the bottom right is the paint can temp- all assuming they are in the original positions!

Cheers,
Ian.

Here are the photos of the jeep when we hauled out of the woods last summer for the previous owner.

Notice these photos:

Notice the hood latch placement. This is due to the tombstone blackout light field mod. It has the wide hole pattern for the Tombstone blackout light

This appears to be a mod for the M48 dash mount

We bought this jeep to get some parts and will be selling it by piece or parts.

Enjoy,

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for the pictures of the jeep and especially the horn bracket. It goes towards supporting those 1/4-28 bolts as correct for that application on some jeeps (seems to be early GPW's) and also that the type of horn lamination bracket is early GPW style too.

I know i am a pain, but could you take a picture of the transmission cover plate bolts? In these shots, they look to be the recessed head with flange on them like this one-
Image

Image

This is the style they appear to be?
Image

I also saw the shot on the surfacezero album of the hood to firewall (cowl) bolts as being plain with the washer, not the recessed ones found on later jeeps.
Image

If parting her out, i would be interested in any tiger ey reflectors, remnants of the 2 hole axe bracket and the handbrake cable if GPW!

Cheers and thanks again,
Ian.

So far we have removed and kept the horn and bracket, the fenders, the mirror arm, the axe handle holder, and the footman's loops. Windscreen is spoken for. Radiator has been re-cored and the tanks will be used to finish off one of Railroad goats repop cores. Passenger seat is M38, fuel tank appears to be some sort of tractor tank. The oil can bracket screws are already on my jeep. We are saving any and all ford bolts. The two combat rims are spoken for but the solid rim is available.

We are saving the flat top grill in case the tub, and matching frame are wanted as a basic of a VEP restoration.

The four digit Slat grill motor has had a leak below the distributor repaired. :-(

If Dexter changes his mind on the toolbox locks, I'd like to be next in line.

Is that the choke or throttle knob? I'd like to be considered for it and the associated cable.

What's the story with the windshield wiper that's on the windshield mounted to the jeep? There's not a clear photo. If I could get a photo, I may be interested.

Thanks!

Hi Robert,

Please confirm that I'm first in line for the parts I listed above.

Sorry, I should've been more specific, but I will take the latches only if they are the flat-style kind. :-)

Thanks,
Dexter

Derek,

You are first on the list for the following parts you asked about.

(1x) Wingnut (with chain) for Windshield arm
One ear is broken, chain is quite rusty, not sure if it will remove undamaged

(2x) Hood-to-windshield latches
handles are poorly welded on the bodies and would be tough to repair

(2x) Fender-to-hood latches
one is original and one is current repop
unsure if these are spoken for. If still available they are yours

(1x) Axe handle bracket
is broken, nut broken off inside tub

(2x) Toolbox locks
unsure if these are spoken for. If still available they are yours

(2x) Crash pad plates
unsure if these are spoken for. If still available they are yours

I will hear back probably tomorrow about the parts in question. Two of use bought the jeep. The other guy is off to work and I will talk to him tomorrow.

(1x) Rusty wingnut chain

(2x) Toolbox locks
(2x) Crash pad plates with mounting bolts
(2x) Safety strap eyebolts (if "F" marked)

Thanks!
