Greater Bay Area Military Vehicle Fans,

It's time to have a little fun!! "Pistons, Pin-Ups and Pinot on the Runway," is an end of summer bash!! October 10, 2015, Sonoma Valley Airport aka "Schelleville Airport" which is 4 miles south of Sonoma on Hwy 121. Spectators 1100-1600 with airplanes to arrive before 0930. Hot rods, classics, exotics, rat rods, military vehicles, motorcycles, boats on trailer, and tractors before 1000 please. Pre-registered vehicle exhibitors will have access to a VIP hangar with a coffee bar in the early morning; a catered lunch featuring nice wines, cold beer, water and soda; a nice event tote bag; dash plaque; a photo op with your vehicle next to a P-40N or ​P-51. Heartstrings Bridge will perform great 60s, 70s music live. Feel free to wear your vintage uniform or clothes to suit the occasion.

There will be People's Choice awards in various vehicle categories. Prizes include warbird ride vouchers for P-40 Warhawk, P-51 Mustang, AT-6 Texan, Stearman open cockpit biplane trainer, or flight jackets. It may be possible to store a MV the night before or after if that helps your logistics on show day. Contact John about that.

Hope you don't mind me coming on here to mention two events. This is a reminder of a deadline, and a double header weekend in October. The deadline for registering for the Pistons, Pin Ups, and Pinot event at Sonoma Valley Airport (aka "Schelleville Airport") has been extended to TUESDAY 9/29. If you want to display your military vehicle and receive the VIP package: continental breakfast, nice lunch with fine wine & beer, merchandise AND you will be in the running for the People's Choice prizes that include vouchers for warbird rides and more. We are talking P-51, P-40, AT-6, and Stearman biplane. You are welcome to register after that but don't expect the VIP treatment. This is a hot rod, classic car, warbird, classic airplane, and military vehicle static display show. Find the application here www.planefunsonoma.com. Note the discount for MVs we have negotiated. If you plan to put the app in the mail Monday or Tuesday, call the number at the bottom of the app to tell Sheryl it's on the way. Or you may contact me an I will tell her. The next day, Sunday Oct. 11, is the Brass in the Grass 2015 car show at Lake Sonoma, west of Geyserville and Healdsburg for vehicles 1900-1954. They are honoring the 75th birthday of the Jeep and want 35 military jeeps! All other pre-1954 military vehicles are invited too, any condition. A registration form is at https://sites.google.com/site/brassinthegrasscars/ This is an online form and you pay at the event. Note the military vehicle link on the website. The promoter is offering us dry camping so this will be good for an out of area person who wants to go to the Schelleville event Saturday and head up to Lake Sonoma to camp and be up bright and early for Brass in the Grass and the Hagerty breakfast that registered participants will get.
