upcoming sale Bantam 2621 / GP 9864

Post by Wayne Douglas » Wed Dec 20, 2017 1:09 pm

Hi Guys, well time has moved on and the young family members feel it's time to sell a couple of the vehicles as they could do with some money.

So early next year Bantam 2621 and GP 9864 will be listed for sale somewhere.

The reason for this post is to ask what the market price for such vehicles is nowadays.

Both are beautifully and carefully restored. The Bantam in particular is very original to the vehicle. The body work has been carefully done to retain the aged (patina) panels as I don't do the bright sparkly new look.

The GP has an early Ken Hake body - part original (cowl, fenders, hood, grill and exterior panels) / part restoration (floors).

Mechanically both are excellent and beautifully presented.

Have tried to upload photos but don't seem to be able to due to file size?

GP photo is on the GP register.

I'm after thoughts on the actual price for these vehicles not the advertised prices.
Now to finish the MA and the Clarkair CA1

I’m sorry you have to sell your BRC and GP. Will they be auctioned off?

If you need help loading the pictures, email me and I will do it for you. That will help the members to determine the value. You have to open the pictures in a separate program such as paint and re size them.

Wayne, you will get serious money for these, Milweb is a good site to sell them on, but i suggest you put them on a few sites, they should start a bidding war. Couldnt you keep just "one" ? :(

Seems like there are a lot of GPs on the market right now. But the BRC would be cool to have. You don’t see too many of those around. I’d suppose they are quite a bit more desirable than a Ford.😉

I would try to ensure that they stay in the USA....these vehicles are far too rare to exported, as countless numbers have over the years (mainly to Europe). There aren’t that many left here in the US to begin with. They are truely National Treasures and once they’re all gone...they’re gone. The Budd bodied Ford prototype comes to mind....

The Bantam will attract plenty of interest... that is for sure. So will the GP... a rather easier one to price as there are a few currently on the market. Not really sure why this is as they are still very rare, just that more have survived and they are an easier restoration. I love my GP but get a little frustrated that people all think it is a Willys, and those that do know their Jeeps usually say "nice slatgrill" !!
If they go to Europe, so be it... the values in Europe are usually higher and they will be well looked after...
My guess is that the Bantam is worth about double what the GP is worth, which in turn is worth about 50% more than a regular MB in similar condition ....

In Europe I would say that a nice GP is 40 to 60k, and the bantam might go over 100!

If I can recommend enything to you Wayne, don’t sell no one. If you need hardly cash, offer the BRC now. There are more GP on market now, as said before.
Nice original MB/GPW in perfect condition must cost in Europe 30 K € (there are many but only some “very nice”). GP must be 40-50 K €, BRC 80-100 K € (so the MA at least think).
But, every vehicle is exactly such worth what the buyer is ready to pay... :)
