Hi Jim,

Ford tractor grey, this can have many shades depending on who you buy your paint from.

Sump (oil pan) is black. Seem to remember there are some more details on the jeep draw site.

Are you building your own GP, or for someone else?

Good luck

Thanks for the input Michael. My problem seems to be that although Ford Tractor used the same color from 1939 to 1947 paint makers that make paint for those years are all a little different shade. I'm wondering if anyone knows witch one is correct or best match for the original color.
Michael I'm helping a friend with his GP. I'm still mostly a Bantam guy. I do love all the proto types. All of them are great. I'm in the process of finishing my second Bantam now. Have you any bump stops or body pads left for sale for BRC.
Best Regards
Jim

Jim,

I'm sure everyone has a favorite and as Michael stated there are shade variations depending on source. Try; BPS Paint Co. Wheeling, Illinois; Tractor and Implement Enamel # 5339-22. I found theirs to be suitable. You might find this paint at a local tractor supply outlet.

Just to add to this......

The original "gray" paint used on the GP motor was the same as the early 9N tractor. It is a " blueish " gray and not the "gray" gray that was used later.

Find a copy of the " 9N newsletter" and in it there are several guys that sell the early 9N gray paint.
