Ford Model GP, handle on dash.

Does anybody know what the handle on the top of the dash is for ? seems too small to be a grab handle.

Does anybody know what the handle on the top of the dash is for ?

Of course.....that handle and the other two on each rear corner are for attaching straps to hold a .30 or .50 caliber machine gun tripod.

The tripod is set up and a strap goes from each leg to the handles to secure it to the floor of the jeep.

I've seen the pics with the .50 mounted in there, but I can't imagine firing it much without tearing the little GP up. I'm afraid to see what the .30 will do to mine when I take it out this spring.

Danny,

You will have no problem with firing a .30 caliber Browning from your GP.

There is very little recoil in firing a 1919A4 or 1917 BMG.

I have shot my F/A 1919A4 from the hip many times just to show how little recoil there is .....because of the weight of the gun.

The straps that go on the loops on the GP are actually for holding the tripod down while the vehicle is driving and not for recoil from firing it.
