Clone a GP Engine
From a early genset. All I need is a GP with a blown engine to get the correct parts.

I know a guy that has a GP without an engine if you're thinking of selling that...

A lot of the Gen. sets that used the 9N style of engine have GP marked Heads. Are there any numbers stamped on the flat pad behind the oil dip stick.

Re: Clone a GP Engine
Mine was run with an updraft carb on it back in the 70's . I don't know how well though the generator wires were touching that carb. It might actually work better than the Solex I have on mine now! Wish I could afford a Holley. Really depressing I can't get mine to run

The one I had was blank Roger. THe only difference I can see in the head is that extra hole in front of the temp sender goes. Not sure what it's for either

Hi Danny, Don't mean to jump on a post, but you posted something about a Solex and your engine not running? What's that all about? If you like, PM or email me and maybe I can help you out. Best wishes; Leo

Jimn is right looking at the fan blade the engine seems to of run anti clockwise if you use this engine in a GP which runs clockwise with a GP starter motor then i think you have to have a matching cam shaft distributor and starter motor

Re: Clone a GP Engine
It is a pusher fan. It pushes air through the radiator instead of pulling it like a normal automotive vehicle. Pusher fans are common to a lot of generator and ind. engines. This engine rotates the same as all GP,s.
