What color is an USN chassis ?

Hello,

I am currently disassembling my 10/28 42 gpw N° 74930 that is blue-gray painted.
There is some dark green (green forest ?) under the blue paint and I discovered that the chassis was black (let say the remaining paint...), also on the steering column and my both (MB) front seats.

I don't know if it was really a USN during the war, but maybe after

Black is nice and I have seen it on other Navy jeeps.

My MZ-1 was painted both light and dark gray, but the chassis and drive train remained forest green.

While I am convinced that most if not all WWII respray jobs ( official or not so official) were done without any major disassembly ( leaving an O.D. or Forrest green undercarriage ) I was told that many afterwar rebuilds implied black paint on chassis: maybe at that time also differently coloured upholstery could have been fitted?
One jeep restored as a Navy jeep, with black undercarriage, can be seen on AAW. I am afraid that quite a few collectors in Europe restored their jeep as supposed Navy Jeeps following that AAW pattern, not considering it would most likely portray a post war livery.
