US Navy MB with original hood #
Here's 2 pictures of our (former girlfriend and I) first MB jeep, Have to look for the Frame number and D.O.D. if I ever wrote it down?
We bought this jeep in San Francisco back in '92 the hood number was found when sanding, it reads US NAVY 170296
The MB was in very original condition, with all little "goodies" still present, sold it after a while, and the guy restored it as a Military model.

On another site we had a discussion on some early USMC marked trucks.
Here is the information... it may help someone with an early truck.

Mark,
The GMC in the photo you posted is the ACK353. its a little longer in the wheel base, and they existed as Cargo trucks for the French army as well as auger (Drilling) trucks for the US Army(about 33 from memory)
Anyway I found the numbers of my trucks to add to the list, I can't actually find the data plates but they must be somewhere
1468 Supplied to USMC 23/8/39 ( The only piece of this truck is the data plate. it surfaced a couple of years ago but no truck has been found
1463 Supplied to USMC 28/8/39 This truck looks like it was a cargo as it had no PTO for the rear winch.
1582 Supplied to USMC 16/1/40 This truck has had a PTO driven winch on the rear deck so may have been a small wrecker as shown in one of Bart VanderVeen's early books.
It would be good to see a period (early war) photo of any USMC Truck to see how they labeled them
regards

Found New USMC #
Tom,
I picked some USMC 5th Marine Div. jeep hood # out, from a well known video from Iwo. I can't find them on your list.
This # isn't clear, but in my opinion: 94937

Dyn Oh Mite Dude !!!!!!!!
Yo Escort,
Wow, thank you for posting these photo's. The photo with USMC 92197, H - S and has a red background with a white cross within it, it the same as what is on my ambjeep. The alpha/numeric is different on my ambjeep, but the white cross within the red background is the same. Another clue in the qwest that the ambjeep was really on Iwo.
Thank you for posting these photo's !!!!!!!!

I was sent a photo of what appears to be a MB-NOM-12 (MZ) radio jeep as it has zippered front seat cushions. It also has a fine looking lady Lieut. and the mascot dog, Sergeant Mike, riding in it.
