All,
I'd really like to see if I can find any identification on my 42 GPW SN 10423. Where are all the places on the body that some sort of marking or number might be found? It looks like the whole body was fair game for numbers, markings etc. I've tried looking on the hood, but it appears to have been stripped down to bare metal on the outside and repainted. I'm still working on it to see if maybe they missed something on the hood. I have higher hopes for the body. If the Registration number generator is correct, I should be looking for a number somewhere around 2065200 give or take a number. I'd appreciate hints on where to look on the body.

Thanks,
Andy

Kings wrote:Hello all,
Whilst restoring my '44MB I found lots of USMC details. The hood number was USMC 55309. Whist watching a documentary a few yrs ago (LAst days of WWII I think) there was a bit about Okinawa and the chaos the mud caused. There was a Amtrac (I think) pulling a truck which was in turn towing a water/fuel bowser - the number on the bowser was USMC 55310 - ONE DIGIT OUT from mine !!!!
We recorded the repeat 1hr later as I thought I was seeing things .... nope .. clearly USMC 55310 !!

Made me happy.

So, two new numbers, USMC 55309 & 55310.

Tom,

Two more USN registration numbers to add to your list.

The first vehicle has the hood marked "U.S. NAVY 24478". Jeep was from U.S. Naval Air Station (Probably Miami, Florida) and taken on 16 Aug 42 in the Everglades.
The second vehicle "USN 134465" marked on the back side panel and lower windshield. Photo taken at MCAS Cherry Point, N.C. on 26 Dec 44.

Regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff.

Do you have the photo of USN 134465?

If so can you tell if it is a radio jeep like these shown below?
