Ian...I have read a couple books about the US Navy basing submarines in Perth during the war, maybe this lady is a driver for the Navy HQ there?
I would also imagine the US Navy would be extremely interested in basing ships and other base facilities in the Indian Ocean with regard to the situation in India and Burma and those combat zones where they supported ABCD forces?

Hi Chuck,

Yes I assume she is a driver for them then. To be such a nice new looking very early MB, in 1942, it was well before (as I understand) any jeeps had arrived in Australia for Australian forces, so must have come with the navy.

It certainly would make sense for the USN to be based out of Perth back then for the reasons you say regaridng the indian ocean (says me with no military understanding at all!!!).

Understand how system parts interact with one another. GOOD parts can then be established & the NOT GOOD problem/s part/s isolated for repair or replacement.
