1945 USMC mb-nb mz3 found
Found 45' mb-nb waterproof radio jeep. One of the super rare 120 or so from the last of production. Possibly only a couple from this batch exist documented. It is differentiated from the mz2 with the 2 1/2 hole for the antenna box.
USMC #120241 is on the sides of the hood. Retains its original engine #629841
Has waterproof features such as different horn, sealed and vented transmission, snorkel opening, lifting rings, tow hooks..

Hi Andy... great looking radio jeep!
You would not have a frame and body number for my records?
On the bottom of the inner wiper mounting pad should be a number... I sure would like to know it also?
Does the glove box floor have a large oval hole?
I sure would like to see some photos of that horn and the engine bay and the gas tank with cap.
Any other markings and is the underside of the wheel wells have that asphalt coating also?

Hi,
Thanks. I don't have any frame or glovebox tags unfortunately. Body number is 258700. Will check windshield today.
Glovebox has oval hole in back. Asphalt is on the underside of hood, and wheel wells.
Gas tank is incorrect...
Going to add pic soon today.
Andy

Decided to list the jeep in the for sale section...it deserves a professional restoration by someone that can return it back to original. Definitely a serious undertaking to locate all the proper gear.

Rough, but very interesting, would a USMC jeep fetch more, than an ordinary MB/GPW ?

Re: 1945 USMC mb-nb mz3 found
What make this jeep desirable is that not only is it USMC,but it is from the rarest batch of waterproof MB-NB radio jeeps made...only 3 or four known to survive. How can you top that? If one has the means to restore properly and get the radio gear, it would be a show stopper when done.
Farrell, The jeep came from somebody who cleaned out an estate. They contacted me with a couple cj's and this jeep. The seller was not a jeep collector, just a reseller or liquidator. Maybe Pearson was the original owner, or somebody who looked at the jeep and submitted the data?
Parts are missing from under the hood that are in your photos. I did see they somebody sanded engine number and body number before I got to it. Also ripped off the frame tag...
Yes Niblet, I'd did go thru with the USMC jeep purchase, along with 4 other amazing original jeeps from Out west this past summer....because i knew I wasn't getting ripped off. By the way are you still trying to sell yours?

Hi Mark... my opinion is that although Contract Radio Jeeps are rare, the market for them is spotty as there are fewer individuals that want to get involved with the system (MB restoration + radio system restoration).
For the Navy/USMC this was a 3000# mobile radio... for the restorer it is a odd jeep with $10,000 in extras (if you can find them) to make it whole, after you restore the MB and paint everything forest green.
The above MB-NB can be restored and fitted with the bare power supply system as it came from the factory... a plus over a Radio Jeep like mine that had factory fitted radios.

Yes, that is very true...the cost and desirability of a radio jeep is not the same as a regular jeep. Running it as a bare power unit is a great idea. Thanks for the input.
I am very flexible on the price I have it listed in the for sale section, so don't hesitate to make me a fair offer..
