Ambulance Jeep USMC 79576

Post by 2/14Marine » Thu Aug 17, 2017 2:49 pm

Today I finally had the chance to see Frank Steele's jeep in person. Being a Marine myself I have wanted to see this jeep since I started talking to Frank a few years back. For those of you that don't know the jeep is back in the Marine Corps inventory. It will be part of the future Iwo Jima exhibit at the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. I'm currently in Quantico with the Marines and Frank put me in touch with Mr Miller the curator. I met him at his office and we walked to one of the 3 storage warehouses where they keep the vehicles not on display. He opened the door and as we walked in it felt like the closing scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark. There were allot of vehicles. An MRAP, LAV, M1 ABRAMS, M38, M100, M-2-4, M151-A2, DUKW, M998, WLA, and many more. There under plastic was the Ambulance Jeep. It is being well cared for till it's on display in the museum. I could not think of a better place for this Marine Corps artifact.

That is very nice! I just found out I have a USMC ambulance jeep. I was so excited to find out! Had no idea what it was, even though I have several WW2 jeeps I just though Bubba had done some modifications to the GPW.
I need some parts for it such as spare mount, litter rack/attachment brackets/top bows and the plasma box for the passenger side. Information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
