USMC 89343 GPW 175215
I came in to possession of this jeep a few weeks ago. GPW 175215, matching engine and frame with a correct Willys MB body # 217245, DOD 1-18-44. This is a Marine Corps Jeep, the windshield has the name "Nancy B IV" and under that is the words "EMPIRE-STATE". USMC number painted above wheels wells "USMC 89343", also has "A-3" on the side of the cowl area on both sides. Front right frame has the USMC number welded in it "89343 CO. A M". possibly to prevent theft by another unit. Dash has holes from an M48 mount, no data plates, but apparently this Jeeps glove box door sold on ebay several years ago, plate had delivery date of 1-18-44. I have been scouring the internet for pictures of this Jeep, but no luck yet. Appears to be a combat vet.

Too bad it was parted out twice by two G members before you got it.

Why do people do this? Data plates are like a jeep's birth certificate. Its like guys who sell their original data plates because they had a repro set made...blitz67 wrote:apparently this Jeeps glove box door sold on ebay several years ago
Your GPW looks great...I'm glad you saved it. I bet the previous G owners had no idea of the jeep's USMC providence.

Re: USMC 89343 GPW 175215
I just found out I have a USMC ambulance jeep! GPW 115356. I have not yet tried to see if any numbers remain on it. I thought Bubba had made the small door mod and 2 slots on the rear and also the passenger side modification. I was so excited when I found out I had one!
I will need the spare mount, stretcher rack/brackets/top bows and the passenger side plasma box but the rest is pretty much there! Can't wait to get started on bringing this one back!!!!

Great GPW find!
May have been in two different units with those two names.
Nancy B must have been important to someone if it was used at least 4 times.
Never seen that welding on a USMC jeep.
Is there a possibility of getting that glove box door back?
