Where did USN 133442 come from? It does not seem to fit?

Re: USMC/NAVY Radio Jeep Serial Number Data
So, looking at the list, I can see what appears to be a grouping of NOM-12 at the MB-214600 range.
Is there any documentation that differentiates between the NOM and NOM-12?
Who gave me the frame section of MB-214688 and what do we know about that jeep?
Sorry...having brain drain today.

Hi Group,
What's left of a NOM-12 is for sale in Georgia .
https://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/cto/5710070477.html
I called and the owner is rechecking the numbers.

Hi Tom,
Looks like we saw the same Jeep! It looks decent all things considered.

I know you can't see the seal number very well but it is 4059 stamped within the box on my MZ-1.

Re: USMC/NAVY Radio Jeep Serial Number Data
CVD-10182 is for the NOM-12 and MZ-1.
http://s327.photobucket.com/user/VA_Leg ... a.jpg.html
Note there is no "A" on the Data plate so I assume you are NAVSHIPS 900,109. The problem is no mention of MZ-1 nor are the boxes different. The BOM shows the same contract for the NOM-12 and MZ-1.
MZ-2 has CVD-10182 B.
I'm still looking at the MZ-3/Navy Basic issue.
OK... CVD-10182 -C is contract Nxsr - 11763 for $430,000. It is 12v and is in the MB-Navy Basic BOM.
The issue is what is the difference between the CVD-10182-C and the CVD-10465? I have to look at the power supplies now.

Re: USMC/NAVY Radio Jeep Serial Number Data
According to NavShips
http://www.virhistory.com/navy/manuals/ ... 0.misc.pdf
CVD 10182 = Navy MZ = Willys model NOM-12
CVD 10182-A = Navy MZ-1 (rather than NAA) = Willys model MZ-1with square antenna base and square top battery boxes
CVD 10182-B = Navy MZ-2 = Willys MZ-2 with triangular antenna base and round top battery boxes
CVD 10182-C = Navy MZ-3 = Willys MB-Navy Basic with submergence proof radio shielding.

Re: USMC/NAVY Radio Jeep Serial Number Data
I have been studying NAVSHIPS 900,109 since I was made aware of it back in October, Farrell.
Do you have a copy of Volume 2 where I write about the radio jeeps?
CVD 10182 = Navy MZ = Willys model NOM-12 for example is only partially true as the NOM-12 came from the factory without radio and could be had with the SCR-608. Same for the MZ-2... I even included this MZ-2 data plate showing the SCR-608 in my chapter in Lloyd's book.
NAVSHIPS 900,109 gives the name and description of the radio jeeps but it does not match up entirely with other documentation and physical evidence. I was talking to Fred at length today and it will take some time to figure this out.
We have a group of contracts, a group of BOMs, NAVSHIPS 900,109, Data Plates, letters and support documentation that doesn't reinforce each other in all cases. An example of this is NAVSHIPS 900,109 seems to indicate the MZ-1 is the CVD-10182-A, if so why is the A not on the data plate similar to the other data plates. Why does NAVSHIPS 900,109 not show the SCR-608 for the MZ-2 as shown on that data plate. Another issue is the detail items... like the antenna box shown in the MZ-2 Supplement is the earlier A-4864 box (with 12 cover screws) and the BOM shows A-12443 box (with 11 cover screws).
Some contracts are just on a plate or note in a BOM... viewtopic.php?p=762027
We may need to start separate threads on each model/contract or CVD type .

Yes, Mark.... I have the book.
The data plate you included that indicates an SCR-608 was installed also indicates that the radio was installed at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, and not at Willys Overland. As indicated by the data plates, the type of radio does not dictate the model of CVD. Rather the CVD model indicates the model reconnaissance car regardless of the type of radio installed. As I read the information on the data plate, the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard received;
One - CVD-10182-B (MZ-2),
installed One - model SCR-608 radio,
and installed One - 66118 antenna assembly (11 cover screws angled antenna box with MP-57)
To me the model reconnaissance car matches up with NavShips 900,109 even though the MZ-1 data plate lacks the A designation.

Re: USMC/NAVY Radio Jeep Serial Number Data
Hello, here are details of my 12-5-1943 Willys Jeep. It was converted to a MX2 radio jeep at some point.
Details:-
MZ-2
Frame: MB-234099
Eng.: MB-250092
It was numbered USMC 54135 then painted grey at some point and renumbered US Navy 9415744.
If anyone has anymore information I would be grateful.
Henry.
