Photo taken August 22, 1944 at the Gare de Grenoble Railway Station in Sothern France. The unit is the 45th Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop operating a Willys Jeep with an MZ radio equipment kit with an unknown type of radio.

Farrell:

What is most interesting in this photo is the (presumably) SCR-608 radio set in the CH-74A chest mounted across the rear of this Marine Corps radio jeep. The storage box on the driver side rear fender is also unusual. Its a neat photo, thanks for posting.

Is that a storage box or a MAH?
I have never seen this photo before. Very cool! 8)

For some reason the front cross member looks GPW to me.

Hi Farrell,
For some reason the front cross member looks GPW to me.
Best reason is because it is a GPW. Most likely it's an Army transfer. The front cross member looks the part as does the front spring clips and left front shock mount. Also notice there are no hooks and lifting rings.

Hi Tom,

If you look carefully, there are two holes on the bumper in front of the bumper gussets, exactly where tie down rings would be. Also, the windshield has the 3 sets of screws for mounting footman loops for the antenna bag. Perhaps this GPW is a kitted radio Jeep.

Looks like Korea so anything is possible. Looks to have fording air inlet tube, a rear fording exhaust pipe and a left rear antenna mounting location.

What's funny is I was so focused on the Jeep, I did not notice the Marine standing there with his pants down.

Dismounted U.S. Navy radio Jeep. You can see the antenna wire hole on the driver's side. There is a U.S.N. registration number on the bumper but I cannot make it out.
