What do I have?.....SOLVED
Hey guys,
While digging through my local USMC salvage yard, I stumbled upon several large containers of helicopter parts. Seats, skids, stretcher assemblies, etc...
Mixed in with all this was a large container of these parts. I picked a few of them up because they were "named". Any ideas what this came off of? This salvage yard is almost exclusively USMC however a few Navy parts show up from time to time. I appreciate any ideas or advice.

Re: What do I have??????
Interesting !
So, is there two of these panels that have "Blackout" on them ? In two different pics. Like maybe a left and a right.
The first pic has a hole in the "B". The second pic panel does not.
The hole in the first pic and the hole in the "Good Vibration" panel in the second pic looks similar. ??? Same damage source ??
All panels appear to be hinged. 5 to 6 feet long.
Since some one took the time to paint on them, they must have been exposed to the world when installed.
Anything on the back ??

Re: What do I have??????
Hey Wolfman,
The panel with Blackout on it is the same panel. It had a DRMO sticker on it that I peeled off. They are both approx 6-7 feet long, have half hinges on them and were exposed to the elements at one time. There are empty pop rivet holes on them like some attached. I was thinking possibly something that covered the landing gear on a larger helo ( sea stallion, etc...)

Re: What do I have??????
I dialed up some videos of CH53 Sea Stallions in action.
Gear up and gear down.
No joy !
Did not see anything that looks like what you have.
We are still looking.

Re: What do I have?.....SOLVED
Outstanding !!
Nice detective work !
I only rode on a CH-47 once, when I was being transferred from Pleiku to An Khe.
I should have remembered that piece. I stepped right over it. I think I had other things on my mind.
Now all you need is a couple of CH-47s to put your parts on.

I flew in the 2nd oldest CH-47, both rotors were out of track, ride was bumpy.

Re: What do I have?.....SOLVED
I must admit, someone on another forum identified it.
I do remember the amazing amount of hydraulic fluid inside the old ones. Got on everything. Crewchiefs used to say if it stopped leaking, that didnt mean it was fixed. It meant it was out
