Hello all,
Would any of you wise chaps/chapesses know what engine this generator is from.
It states 'aviation and tank generator' on the plate, so I was thinking Sherman radial? Amongst others perhaps.
Want to identify it so I can advertise it correctly.
Many thanks in advance
Regards
Shaun

Re: Generator identification
It's a common generator used on smaller radial engines (R1340 or smaller) the mounting pad is standard or these engines.

Re: Generator identification
Excellent, thank you for that information.
So would it also fit the continental R975 radial as fitted to the Sherman? (Because the plate says tank generator) and I can't find anything on the smaller R1340 being fitted to tanks.
Thanks again for your knowledge
Regards
Shaun

Re: Generator identification
I am mostly an airplane guy but I would think that yes it would fit on the 975. I am surprised that some of the WWII tanks would have been 24 volt systems. I would have expected 12 v not 24.
